Attributes

The Attributes page is connected to the settings of attributes (values/data) included in the data imported to the platform. Thanks to these settings, you can set the name, type and translations of each attribute. Attribute naming is fully internal thing and is not visible to your customers. It helps you with Data source column mappingFeedback filtering, and you can find the attributes in Feedback detail as well.

Let’s navigate you through the attributes page now. Starting from the top, you can see the number of attributes as the first thing.

The list of all attributes (the main table) consists of the following information:

  • Name: The name represents the name of the value placed in each column of the data extract imported. (Example: if the date of birth is included in one column only, we can name it “Date of birth” or “Employee birthday”).
If more attributes are created, feel free to use the search bar to find the attribute you need based on its name.
  • Type: The attribute type is either customer for data connected to customers (age, gender, etc.) or interaction for data connected to interaction/process (call length, purchase value, etc.).
  • Translations: List of languages the attribute is created in.
  • Last edited: Date of the last edit of the attribute.

You can sort the list based on any of the parameters above.

You can proceed following changes on this page:*

*Find out more about specific settings by clicking the section name.

The data sources documentation covers information about Creating a custom attribute and the Predefined attributes library.

Creating an attribute

You can start setting up the attribute by visiting the “Attributes” section in Settings and clicking on the “+ Assign attribute” button. Currently, you can create up to 45 interaction attributes and up to 20 customer attributes above the Predefined attributes.

A new window pops up, where you fill in the following input fields:

  • Name: The name represents the name of the value placed in each column of the data extract imported. (Example: if the date of birth is included in one column only, we can name it “Date of birth” or “Employee birthday”).
  • Type: The attribute type is either customer for data connected to customers (age, gender, etc.) or interaction for data connected to interaction/transaction (call length, purchase value, etc.). Just choose the type from the dropdown.
  • Checkbox: Check the box if the attribute has a statistical meaning for you; you’ll use the data for further analysis. (Example: year of birth has a statistical meaning since you can filter the feedback based on the range = filter satisfaction of customers/employees born from 1970 to 2000).

If you’re already familiar with how Data sources work, you can also use them to create attributes. While creating/adjusting a data source, simply select the last option in any column: “+ Assign New Attribute”.

The same configuration window pops up, and you can start filling in the input fields. Attributes created through the data source will be automatically visible in the Attributes part of the platform as well.

Adjusting an attribute

When it comes to changes within Attributes, you can change the following:

  • Name of the attribute:
This is done by clicking on the “context menu (three dots)” placed at the end of the row of the attribute that you want to adjust and choosing the “Rename” option.

Another way is by clicking on the row where the attribute is placed.

In both cases, a new window appears where you can rewrite the original name with a new one. Don’t forget to confirm the rewrite via the “Save” button.

  • Add attribute to filter checkbox: Open the Attributes list and click the attribute’s row to access the checkbox. Check “Add to Filters” to show this attribute in filters; uncheck to remove it. (Example: enable “Year of birth” to filter by an age range (e.g., 20–30) and review feedback from that group.)

Don’t forget to confirm the change via the “Save” button.

  • Adding more language variations (translations):
This is done by clicking on the row where the attribute is placed. Just click on the “A blocks” icon and choose the “Add new language” option. All available languages pop up, and you can check the boxes for the relevant ones. Use the “Add” option and write the translation to the “Attribute name” input field.
The “A blocks” icon always shows the language you are currently viewing, and you can switch between languages by clicking on its names.

Don’t forget to confirm the rewrite via the “Save” button.

⚠️ Please note that you cannot duplicate existing attributes or change the attribute type (interaction/customer).

Deleting an attribute

Deleting Attributes is a simple process that can be done in two different ways:

1. By clicking on the “context menu (three dots)” placed at the end of the row of the attribute that you want to delete and choosing the “Delete” option.

2. By checking the check box placed at the beginning of the row of the attribute you want to delete and choosing the option “Delete” from the “Actions” dropdown.
This option is better when you want to delete more than one attribute at once.

In any case, a new window always shows up where you must confirm your decision to delete the attribute(s). After your confirmation, the attribute will be successfully deleted.

⚠️ Please note that once you delete an attribute that was used in the currently running Data source, it is also removed from it. Therefore, no imports will be processed successfully until the deleted attribute is replaced or removed from column mapping.

If you don’t know how to proceed, the section Adjusting a data source is here for you.

⚠️ Please note that you cannot restore deleted attributes, so here is a guide on How to Create an attribute.
